Diversity summit was a failure

What is the MISD Diversity Summit? Good question! The purpose of the summit is to teach students how they can increase diversity in their schools; however, this has not been achieved. The ISD’s previous failures to do anything meaningful at the summit made students and faculty uninterested in participating. Yet, students and faculty were pressured to go so that the ISD could pretend it’s interested in diversifying education.

The MISD was happy to take sponsorships from diverse groups but snubbed their voices. Let these groups be advised that the MISD did little more than put your name on a banner.

What students learned from the summit is how to repeat void statements like “it’s okay to be yourself” or “you shouldn’t discriminate”. The repetition of these statements does not protect anyone from discrimination. The summit did not teach students how to improve their school, nor did it teach faculty how to support their students in the process of changing their schools.

The MISD failed to support its students and faculty in teaching the creation of diverse education. It fails to support students and faculty who have already improved diversity in their own schools in their own time. The ISD does not have a vested interest in improving diverse education because if it did it would go beyond teaching students how to repeat statements and teach students how to cause change. It would teach faculty how to support their students. And it would invest its money into diverse education.

Protestors: Pack a bag for Gaza

Today we witness the mindless minions, protesting to “Free Palestine,” a nation that surrendered to Hamas 17 years ago. It’s a nation whose laws are defined, not by judicial laws, but laws interpreted by their religious leaders. Our bewildered protesters stand and echo the chants from some Bozo with a bullhorn as thought they were attending a sporting event. If they were subjected to the punishments handed out in Gaza for such displays they would be arrested, tried, and punished, all done without any legal defense or trial. Hamas subjugates any and all in Gaza.

Females are considered beneath males and must adhere to strict codes of conduct. Forget Homosexuality, or prostitution, each can be punishable by execution, and administrated by whatever means they decide upon. For those so adamant about the situation in Gaza I suggest they pack a bag, grab their hat and make your position known in Palestine. And please take those politicians who are more concerned for Gaza than their own constituents with you.
