More details have emerged regarding the death of an employee at a Michigan workplace.

A 63-year-old machine repairman from Detroit died at the Dundee Engine Plant in Monroe County on Monday morning. The facility is owned by the automaker, Stellantis.

According to a report released by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Tuesday, the man died while performing maintenance tasks near a conveyor line.

During the task, a motorized arm pinned the victim to the conveyor, causing fatal crushing injuries, MIOSHA said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. In a statement, Stellantis offered “heartfelt condolences” to the man’s family, friends and coworkers.

This is Michigan’s sixth workplace death of 2025.

Previously, two roofers died in falls in Traverse City and Sterling Heights, a cement finisher died from propane inhalation in Almont, a pipefitter died in a cave-in in Carsonville and a laborer died in a freak accident in Ravenna.
