SEASIDE >> Stephen Earl Guice, 51, of Seaside, was sentenced to 29 years to life in prison, after being convicted by a jury of forcible rape and false imprisonment.

On April 4, 2024, Jane Doe was at a sports pub in Monterey with two friends, where they met Guice. He offered Jane Doe and a friend illicit drugs which he provided in the handicapped stall of the women’s bathroom, which is fully enclosed. Despite them having second thoughts, Guice would not allow the women to exit the bathroom until they consumed the drugs.

Once Jane Doe’s friend obliged, Guice let her out of the stall and locked the door. Jane Doe was trapped inside with Guice, where he proceeded to sexually assault her. When Guice exited the bathroom, Jane Doe’s friends entered immediately and found her on the floor, sobbing and with bruises forming on her shoulders. Her friends took Jane Doe to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula where she was treated and referred to the Sexual Assault Response Team.

Guice’s DNA was found when the response team collected evidence samples. He has two prior “strike” convictions under the state’s Three Strikes Law which led to the forcible rape charge sentence being increased to 25 years to life.
