Born in Salinas, CA to Mildred Blomquist and Emile Silacci, Janet grew up in the Salinas Valley with her parents, brother Gary Silacci, and her large extended family. She attended King City High School and graduated in 1956. Janet cherished where she grew up, her family vacations to Yosemite, and spending time with her relatives.

She attended O’Connor School of Nursing with her lifelong best friend, Rose Ann Zeppa, and graduated in 1959. While working as a nurse, she met Joseph Mannina.

Janet and Joe married on June 19, 1960 at Mission San Juan Bautista and were married for almost 65 wonderful years. They lived in San Jose and raised three children before building their forever home in Los Gatos, where Janet hosted every family holiday.

Janet’s dedication to nursing led her back to school later in life, where she earned her master’s degree in Nursing from San Jose State University in 1995. She served as a public school nurse for many years in the Evergreen School District specializing in audiology. After retiring, Janet devoted her time to caring for her grandchildren and volunteering with various local organizations. Janet and Joe were active members of their local Italian Catholic Federation branch and parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Los Gatos.

Family was the light of Janet’s life. She came from a large and vibrant one, and she leaves behind her devoted husband, Joe Mannina, their three children and spouses, Carolyn (Dan) Rosser, Joe Jr. (Julie) Mannina, and Steve (Jana) Mannina, along with seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Rosser-Owen, Anthony Rosser, Rachel Mannina, Olivia Mannina, Matteo Mannina, Gianna Mannina, and Elianna Mannina.
