Volvo has a very strong suit when it comes to designing a vehicle, but more importantly, adding style, comfort and luxury to all of their vehicles makes for a masterpiece fleet combination. For 2025, Volvo does the un-imaginable and re-designs their flagship SUV, the XC90. Its unique style has the competition going back to the drawing board to find better ways to keep up. Packed with an $80K base sticker price, the 6-seater XC90, holds nothing back.
Our 2.0 liter powered and proven turbo-charged, direct inject engineering with electric motor was phenomenal. Packing 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque, the XC90 had plenty of get up and go. Paired with the 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, we noticed 32 miles on electric charge only and 530 miles overall. Riding on 21-inch 5-multi spoke black diamond cut wheels and all-season tires, the XC90 AWD was ready for everything ,and looked great doing it.
Our Mulberry Red tester was very appealing to the eye, while the Cardamon Nappa leather interior was very stylish. As a driver who tends to drive a lot, it’s all about the ride and comfort on the inside, but Volvo delivers again. Plenty of legroom for all passengers and the driver, an easy to use, 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital drivers display was present. An upgraded Bowers and Wilkins Premium Sound system, lounge package with massaging seats was also added. Air Ride suspension was just the cherry on top for that “ultra” luxury ride, all real drivers deserve.
In the upscale automobile market, vehicles have their niche and tend to deliver strongly in their proven area of expertise and strengths. This is the sole reason consumers tend to lean towards certain brands. Some like it for their service, some like the warranty, and some like what the vehicle offers for the price range their budget can afford. For Volvo, they strive for comfort, style and technology, while still capitalizing on price and checking a lot of consumer wants and needs. With Geely as their parent company since late 2010, their driving quality and comfort are easily chart-topping and leave the competition in the dust. Another outstanding release Volvo, and deserving of World Car Award accolades in my opinion.
