Resident of Sunnyvale It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert H.Wolf, who departed this life on May 5, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loved ones.

Herbert will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, integrity, and love, which will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on October 20, 1930, to Gerhard and Elise Wolf (Lohrengel) in Poehlde am Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany, Herbert was the middle son among 3 boys. He lived a life characterized by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those he cherished. He emigrated with his young family to San Francisco, CA on May 17, 1957. After starting his career at Volkswagen in San Francisco, he had an opportunity to own an automotive repair business, Fremont Corners Shell in Sunnyvale, which he owned for over 25 years.

Herbert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather ("Opa") and great grandfather (“Opa Tik Tok”). He always had a twinkle in his eye when his great-grandchildren, Grace and Ethan, came to visit. Herbert enjoyed playing his favorite card game, Skat, and traveled for international competitions where he was highly respected.

He was a passionate soccer fan and would watch any game anywhere. He was a member of the Sunnyvale Rotary Club, the San Francisco Concordia Sport Club for 60 years, and served as both President and Board Member of the Germania Verein in San Jose for 51years.

Herbert is survived by his two children, Reinhard (Debra) Wolf and Caroline Wolf; his two grandchildren, Erik Wolf and Alexandra (Daniel) Allen; and his two great-grandchildren, Grace and Ethan Wolf. He also leaves behind extended family members in the Bay Area and Germany. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Renate Wolf (Loens), and his life partner of the last 30 years, Hertha Hoche (Domas), with whom he traveled extensively.

A celebration of life to honor Herbert's life will be held on Saturday, June 14th, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, located at 1025 The Dalles Ave inSunnyvale, at 12:00 PM (High Noon) with areception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Luke Lutheran Church, the American Kidney Fund, or a charity of your choice in Herbert's memory.
