Fogerty says hit could have been better
It’s one of the most famous rock songs of the 20th century, and helped define the era when it was released. But if you ask the guy who sang it? Eh, it could have been better. The song in question is “Fortunate Son,” released by Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969. And frontman John Fogerty recently shared in an interview that it’s not his favorite work. The “Proud Mary” singer was recently interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, and told the publication that he never felt like he quite nailed the notes while recording the band’s anti-war anthem.
Fogerty shared that by the time he’d gotten to singing the lead vocal part for “Fortunate Son,” he’d somewhat worn himself out singing backing vocals for that and “Down on the Corner.”
