Fairview and Mead are the lone undefeated programs from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas after Week 5.

The Knights are 5-0 for the first time since the shortened 2020 season, when they won all six of their regular season games before falling in the first round of the Class 5A postseason.

Mead’s 4-0 start matches how it began in 2021. That season didn’t end until a loss to the Class 3A finals.

This week, local teams went 8-5.

Friday

Fairview 56, Smoky Hill 0: Sophomore Ki Ellison was impressive yet again, throwing just one incompletion for a second straight week.

He finished 10-of-11 passing with a touchdown against the Buffaloes, one week after he went 19 of 20 for four TDs in a win over Monarch. Jordan Rechel, meanwhile, ran for two of Fairview’s five rushing scores.

The Knights (5-0) begin play in the 5A Front Range League-North next week, hosting Prairie View on Oct. 5.

Mead 31, Lewis-Palmer 0: The Mavericks (4-0) turned in another impressive defensive performance, and it turned into their first shutout since 2022.

Mead is at Holy Family on Friday, those two programs’ first meeting since 2021. The Mavericks have won four straight in the series. The Tigers had won the previous four.

Frederick 57, Thornton 13: Gavin Ishmael threw for 297 yards and six first-half touchdowns as the Golden Eagles (3-2) won their third straight game after starting the year 0-2. Ishmael finished 10-of-11 passing to lead an air attack that did whatever it wanted against Thornton, while Braydin Rudman caught three touchdowns. The senior quarterback’s 1,252 yards and 15 TDS in the air this season are among the best in the state. Frederick is at Loveland on Friday.

Legacy 47, Horizon 43: Tyler Anderson ran for 144 yards and two scores for the Lightning (2-3), who narrowly lost to Broomfield the previous week.

Andrew Gardner threw for 276 yards and three scores, and Dominic Mezarina caught two touchdowns in the win. Legacy led 40-20 after three quarters.

The Lightning host Fossil Ridge on Friday.

Longmont 34, Thomas Jefferson 31: The Trojans (1-4) rallied back from a first-half deficit and sealed things on a late pick-six in the fourth quarter for their first win of the season. They host Broomfield on Friday.

Prospect Ridge Academy 48, The Pinnacle 0: It was the Miners’ first shutout since Sept. 9, 2021.

They are now 4-0 against The Pinnacle since 2016.

PRA (3-2) is at Forge Christian on Friday.

Erie 13, Broomfield 3: Erie kicker Mason Guven connected on field goals of 27 and 31 yards, quarterback Ronin Ward completed a 36-yard score to Gabe Sema in the third quarter for the game’s only TD, and Erie (3-2) beat Colorado Preps 4A No. 2 Broomfield (4-1).

Dylan Firebaugh sealed the game with an interception late in the fourth.

Erie is home against Rangeview on Friday, while Broomfield is at Longmont.

Pueblo East 63, Holy Family 42: Monte Samaras ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, but the Tigers still couldn’t keep up.

The senior QB’s second rushing score of the second quarter put Holy Family back just 35-21. The Eagles scored 21 straight after that to seize control for good.

The Tigers host Mead on Friday.

Riverdale Ridge 28, Silver Creek 14: Nolan Gaccetta’s go-ahead rushing TD in the first half didn’t hold as Riverdale Ridge ended the game with 21 unanswered points. Silver Creek (3-2) is home against Greeley West on Thursday.

Thursday

Monarch 48, Boulder 0: The Coyotes (4-2) bounced back from a lopsided loss to Fairview last week with a 38-point first quarter against Boulder (1-4).

The Panthers are at Lakewood on Friday. Monarch has a bye before hosting Loveland on Oct. 10.

Standley Lake 60, Skyline 27: Servando Morales threw for 196 yards, ran for 159 and scored twice in the loss.

Rodrick Hobbs added 62 yards and a score on 10 carries for Skyline (0-5), which is home against Riverdale Ridge on Friday.
