San Marino (3-2) at Monrovia (4-1), 7 p.m.

Analysis: The Titans chose an interesting nonleague path by playing out-of-area teams, and they looked good in back-to-back wins over Los Angeles Wilson (24-7) and Compton Centennial (58-0). They do have a loss to so-so Crescenta Valley (41-14), so the jury’s out on what to expect as the Rio Hondo League begins. Senior QB Brady Beck is averaging 143 yards with eight touchdowns, and the Titans have a handful of backs, led by Julian Solis. They’re strong defensively with Tomas Bilvado, Mitch Mooney and Miles Morning, but they have a big task ahead of them. The Wildcats will look to rebound after a 42-14 loss to San Dimas in which they gave up nearly 500 yards on the ground. The Wildcats’ offense will counter with plenty of firepower. Freshman QB Jesse Saucedo averages 243 yards a game and Joshua Griffiths can run or catch the ball and is capable of taking over. Both teams could contend for the league title, along with La Canada and Temple City, so it’s an important game.

The pick: Monrovia

West Covina (2-3) at San Dimas (4-1), 7 p.m.

Analysis: The Bulldogs have lost some of their luster after a 16-13 loss to rival South Hills, followed by a 36-0 loss to Summit. They started the season showing some toughness in a loss to Bishop Amat and a win over El Rancho, but something doesn’t seem quite right of late. To have a chance, they will have to show they can run the ball with the Saints, which is no easy task. San Dimas just pounded Monrovia 42-14 last week and got nearly 300 yards from back Julian Vigil, who also scored two touchdowns. Even in the Saints’ only loss, to undefeated Bonita, they were able to run for 200-plus yards. The Bulldogs will need a big game from back Zander Requena to have a shot, and will probably need the Saints to cough the ball up a couple of times too.

The pick: San Dimas

El Dorado (2-3) at La Habra (4-1), 7 p.m.

Analysis: The Highlanders begin a tough stretch in the new Epsilon League, which is loaded with Crean Lutheran (4-1), Laguna Hills (3-2), Huntington Beach (3-2), Foothill (3-2) and El Dorado, which is the only team entering league with a losing record. The Hawks, who aren’t as strong as past years, are coming off a 40-0 loss to Laguna Beach. One of their wins came over winless Diamond Bar, and it was close (21-19 ). The Highlanders, who have won four straight since a season-opening loss to Upland, have looked good in recent games and might be co-favorites in the league with Crean Lutheran. Kevika Martinez is averaging 106 yards as part of a rushing attack averaging more than 300 yards a game. Senior QB Kenneth Saucedo is a dangerous dual threat, and La Habra also has sophomore DJ Mitchell at QB. So much to like about them.

The pick: La Habra

Muir (3-2, 2-0) at Arcadia (1-4, 0-2), 7 p.m.

Analysis: The Mustangs are finding their confidence after opening the season with back-to-back losses to Bonita and Charter Oak. Senior QB Keyon Mills returned from an injury to help them win their final nonleague game against St. Francis (28-18), and they proceeded to blow out their first two Pacific League opponents, routing Burbank (35-13) and Crescenta Valley (53-0). Zion McDonald and Alijah Parker have been a handful in the backfield and Cole Cogshell has been a force on their defensive line. The Apaches nearly knocked off Burroughs before losing their league opener, 21-13, and then got hammered by Burbank, 46-10. The Apaches may find some league wins over their final four games, but facing Muir finishes a tough three-game stretch to open league play.

The pick: Muir
