An Illinois man is still at large after he was charged April 20 with reckless homicide following a fatal crash in 2019 on southbound Cline Avenue, court records show.

Zygimantas Nevulis, 28, most recently of Willowbrook, Illinois, was charged with multiple felonies.

Clinton Miskel Jr., 27, of Harvey, Illinois, was killed and two others injured May 17, 2019, according to charging documents. He was transported to St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago before he was pronounced dead around 11 a.m. Nevulis was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A man told police his 2004 Ford Taurus’ hood popped up, smashing the windshield. He put on his hazards and was pulling over when Nevulis rear-ended the car in a Ford transit van, documents state.

Nevulis told officers he dropped his phone and didn’t initially see any cars in front of him when he went to pick it up, charges state. The Taurus was then stopped in front of him without its hazards on, he claimed to police. The van was clocked at 63 mph in a 50 zone, records said.

Court records showed Nevulis was a temporary U.S. visitor, according to the Illinois Secretary of State’s office.

He is charged with reckless homicide, three counts of criminal recklessness, all felonies; three counts of reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and other traffic infractions including following too closely, speeding, driving too fast for conditions, unsafe lane movement and failure to use a safety belt.
