Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is part of a statewide program that provides a tax credit to donors equal to 50% of the donation’s value.
Called the Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit, officials said it will enable donors to double the impact of their contributions to build stability and opportunity for working families who want to purchase their own homes.
“This tax credit is a game-changer for the families we serve,” said Dawn Michaels, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana.
“Every contribution helps build more homes and strengthens our local community.”
The credit is capped at $10,000 per donor each year.
She urged taxpayers to consider donating soon to take advantage of the tax credit before 2024 ends.
She said there’s a finite amount of tax credits available and early donations ensure contributors secure the tax benefit.
