Jean passed away peacefully in her Altadena home. She was born on May 7, 1932 in Los Angeles to Tom and Mary Arzoian.

Jean grew up near the Colosseum, attending Manual Arts High School and USC, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. After graduating from USC, she began teaching in El Segundo.

Jean married the love of her life, George Kalem on January 19, 1957. They were blessed with three children, Craig (Mary Rose), Valerie (Damon), and Lisa, as well as seven grandchildren, Laura (Michael), Michele, Nicole (Ben), Sidney, Nicolas, Audrey, and Sofia. She is also survived by her brother Tom Arzoian.

Jean took time off work to raise her children and then returned to teaching once her youngest was nearly finished with High School. After retiring from Los Angeles Unified School District at 65, Jean enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, visiting her grandchildren, going on outings with either family, friends, or seniors groups, and traveling the world.

A service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery - 2400 N Fair Oaks Ave, Altadena, May 25th at 10am.
