The San Rafael Pacifics survived a late rally from the host Vallejo Seaweed to make the most of Kyle Guerra’s big night for a 15-13 victory on Monday night.

The win increased first-place San Rafael’s lead over Martinez (13-8) in the Pecos League Pacific Division to two games. The Pacifics play Martinez on the road Wednesday, before beginning a three-game homestand Thursday against Monterey.

Vallejo outhit San Rafael, 23-15, but the Pacifics (15-6) got a big effort from Guerra, who hit a sixth-inning grand slam for his second homer of the season. Guerra followed with a pair of two-run singles, in the seventh and eighth innings as he went 3-for-6 with eight RBIs and two runs scored.

John Bicos was 3-for-4 with a pair of walks to drive in two runs and score two more, while Keith Whitaker was 3-for-4 with a pair of walks, a double and four runs.

Pacifics starter Payton Rios rang up three strikeouts with one walk and gave up three earned runs in six innings for the win. Richard Kiel got the save.

• The Novato Knicks swept a Saturday doubleheader with the NorCal Warriors. The Knicks won the opener, 8-2, before erupting for a 17-2 victory in the late game. The Knicks are scheduled to play the Alameda Anchors on Wednesday at College of Alameda.

Basketball

The Branson School is hosting a summer basketball camp for middle school girls of all skill levels in grades 6-8. The camp, directed by incoming Branson head coach Kayden Korst, is scheduled for July 7-10, from 9 am to 3 p.m. The fee is $370. For more information, email summer_session@branson.org.
