Scheffler details his hand injury from making ravioli, is ready to get back to golf

Scottie Scheffler felt frustrated sitting at home for two tournaments he normally plays while recovering from glass puncturing the the palm of his right hand while making ravioli. A big part of him was thankful the injury wasn’t worse.

Scheffler went into detail Tuesday about how he injured his hand making Christmas dinner, and how he practiced hard last week in cold weather in Dallas to feel confident he wasn’t returning to the PGA Tour too soon.

He makes his season debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second $20 million signature event with an 80-man field, including amateur partners for the opening two rounds at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill.

Scheffler played Cypress Point on Monday and Pebble Beach on Tuesday, without a bandage and swinging as freely as ever.

Blues put Brandon Saad on waivers with the intent of sending him to the minors

ST. LOUIS>> The Blues put veteran forward Brandon Saad on waivers Tuesday with the intent of sending him to the minors.

General manager Doug Armstrong said Saad would be assigned to Springfield of the American Hockey League if he clears or be playing for a different NHL team if he is claimed. Saad has another year left on his contract at a salary cap hit of $4.5 million, which makes it unlikely he’s going anywhere but the AHL.

Wild sideline Kaprizov for at least a month

ST. PAUL, Minn. >> Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov needs surgery on the lingering lower-body injury he recently returned from and will be sidelined for at least a month.

General manager Bill Guerin said Kaprizov is expected to be back with the team later this season, but the Wild must again compensate for the absence of their leading scorer and popular teammate.

MLB The Show 25 cover features Skenes, Henderson and De La Cruz

MLB The Show 25 announced that rising stars Paul Skenes, Gunnar Henderson and Elly De La Cruz will be the cover athletes on its upcoming video game.

It’s the first time MLB The Show has featured three athletes on the same cover. The game is scheduled to hit the market on March 18.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Skenes, 22, was last season’s National League Rookie of the Year.

Jake, Logan Paul make cryptic announcements

Brothers Jake Paul and Logan Paul made social media announcements Tuesday that suggested they have a show or fight coming to HBO Max.

Calling it the “moment you’ve waited a decade for,” the posts featured a head-to-head shot of the brothers with a March 27 date and the HBO Max logo. Further details were not included in the posts. ESPN reported on anonymous sources that it will be a reality series rather than a boxing match.

Olsen leads Norwegian 1-2 in rain-affected GS

SCHLADMING, Austria >> Alexander Steen Olsen led a Norwegian 1-2 finish ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen in a rain-affected men’s World Cup night giant slalom Tuesday, while defending overall champion Marco Odermatt finished third.

Odermatt had won the last three giant slaloms, and 15 of the last 18, but the Olympic and world champion struggled in tough conditions.
