Here is a sampling of services that are closed or have an altered schedule on Friday:

Banks: Closed. Also, New York Stock Exchange markets are closed.

Courts: Closed.

Libraries: Los Angeles Public Library locations are closed. Also, Los Angeles County Library locations are closed.

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver regular mail, and post offices are closed.

Transit: Metro buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a Sunday schedule on Friday. There are several bus lines on detour on Friday for holiday events. Also, Metrolink trains run on a weekend schedule.

Trash: Pickup is postponed by one day beginning on Friday for Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment customers. If your weekly collection is on Friday, it will be picked up on Saturday.
