A Pleasant Township toddler who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound over the weekend has died, according to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Cook County, Illinois.
The child has been identified as Wyatt Luzcak, 2, of the 100 block of Daumer Road in Kouts. He died at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the University of Chicago Medical Center, with the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network as the listed agency.
Cause and manner of death are pending, according to the medical examiner’s office.
No additional information about the shooting was released Wednesday and Cpl. Ben McFalls, public information officer with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, said he does not expect to release more details until the investigation is closed.
Around 11:06 a.m. on Sunday, deputies were called to a residence on Daumer Road for a report of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to a 2-year-old, according to an initial release from McFalls. The child was taken to Franciscan St. Anthony Crown Point before being transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
