


Tam High’s Ben Friedman and Hayden Thill earned a trip to Pebble Beach next week as the two are heading back to the CIF State Boys Golf Championship on June 3.
Friedman and Thill placed among the top individual qualifiers at Tuesday’s CIF NorCal Regional Tournament at Berkeley Country Club. The top three teams and top nine individuals not on a qualifying team advance to next week’s tournament.
Friedman, one of six players to break par, finished at 1-under 71 to tie for fifth place overall. He was 1-under on the front nine and shot an even 36 on the back nine. Friedman led the field with six birdies.
Thill was close behind his teammate at 1-over 73 to tie for 12th place overall. Thill was 1-under on the front nine, then 2-over on the back nine, with two birdies and 14 holes in par.
Friedman and Thill tied for 17th at 2-over 73 at the 2024 State Championships.
Peacock Gap Golf Club will host the fourth annual San Rafael City Championship, July 19-20, with men’s and seniors scratch flights, and net flights for men, women and seniors. The Marin Heat is hosting its first tournament, the Bay Area Bowl, at San Rafael High on Saturday. The event is a 5 on 5 tournament with co-ed and girls competitions for 9U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and high school ages.

Petaluma’s Tyler O’Hara, along with Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp and NNKC Minimoto, will host a MotoAmerica Mission Mini Cup Qualifier at Sonoma Raceway, July 19-20. The event is a fast track to the Mission Mini Cup National Final in Elkhart Lake, Wis., Aug. 8-10. Qualifiers at the Sonoma event will be held for all six classes: Stock 50 (ages 6-8), Stock 110 (ages 8-12), GP 110 (ages 8-12), GP 160 (ages 10-14), GP 190 (ages 10-14), and Street GP (ages 14 and up).
