Resident of Pittsburg

Francine (Fran) passed away unexpectedly on July 26th leaving those that knew and loved her heartbroken. She was a kind, caring, gracious woman dedicated to her family, faith, and community.

Fran was proud to be born and raised in Pittsburg where she lived her whole life. After graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1955 she attended Armstrong Business College in Berkeley. After graduating from Armstrong she found her profession at US Steel in Pittsburg where she retired after an illustrious 39-year career in personnel. Fran also served on the board of directors of the United Savings Federal Credit Union for over 20 years. She gladly continued to administer the employee relief fund for many years after her retirement. Fran was a lifelong fan of Broadway SF (what she called “light opera”), was a HUGE 49er and Giants fan, and of course loved the PHS Pirates. She loved animals especially her dogs, but most of all she loved being with her family and the true love of her life, Dominic.

Fran found great joy in and was dedicated to giving back to her community. There are too many acts of service to mention, but she was honored for serving as a Eucharistic Minister for over 50 years, delivered Meals on Wheels for over 25 years, through her work with Grannie’s Anonymous provided hundreds of thousands of toys to children at Christmas, and was devoted to serving the Good Shepherd parish.

Fran is survived by her devoted children; Lee Ann Dozier (Mike) of Pittsburg, Steven (Dina) of Antioch, and Kevin (Susan) of Concord and grandchildren Dominic, Masen, Kyle Dozier, Gino, Kayla, and Krista. She was Preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Dominic.

Her kind heart, giving spirit, and hugs will be missed by many. Words cannot describe the type of dedicated wife, mother, nani, and friend she was to those she loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in remembrance of Francine to the ASPCA or Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa.
