San Rafael

On December 26, 2024 Jacqueline Hanan Deetken of San Rafael, CA passed away at the age of 91. Born in San Fransisco on January 8, 1933, Jackie grew up in Mill Valley where she attended Tamalpias High School, she later graduated from Colorado College with a bachelors degree in Art which she actively pursued her entire life. Jackie worked for Bechtel as a draftsman while putting her husband David through dental school. After having three children she volunteered for many schools and organizations showing her talent as an artist. As a painter and sculptor her home and those of her friends and family are filled with reminders of this passionate and gifted artist. Jackie continued to paint right up until she passed away. Together Jackie and her husband David traveled the world, even living in both Guam and Saudi Arabia. She was very adventurous and had many hobbies such as backpacking, sailing, hiking, playing tennis, skiing, scuba diving, and swimming in the ocean. Jackie will be missed dearly because of her warmth, generosity, positive attitude and compassion. Jackie is survived by her three children, Bruce Deetken (Michelle), Stephen Deetken (Lynn), and Leslie Morris (Steve) and her four grandchildren Kyle Deetken (Leilani), Chelsea Camus (Cassius), Michael Jansheski and Sloan Hines (Max) as well as four rambunctious great grandsons.
