Police: Suspect, 14, had loaded firearm
San Rafael police detained two suspects after a traffic stop, including a 14-year-old who allegedly carried a loaded gun.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Thursday following a traffic violation near the corner of Second and Irwin streets, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. The teenage passenger ran away with a bag.
Officers discovered stolen property that belonged to 16 people in the vehicle, along with narcotics, Graham said. Gavin Tank-Crestetto, 18, of Petaluma was cited on suspicion of carrying burglary tools, possessing stolen access cards and driving without a license.
Police found the 14-year-old suspect and discovered an unregistered, loaded gun in the bag. The teen was booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public, obstructing an officer and violating his terms of probation.
Tank-Crestetto, who has been released from custody, could not be reached for comment.
MARINWOOD
More pleas entered in online sting case
Two more suspects have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a sex crimes sting operation in Marinwood.
Owen Michael Dombrowski, 26, of San Rafael entered his plea on Wednesday. His defense attorney, Will Morehead, declined to comment on the case.
Jose Ruiz Magallon, 38, of Oakland entered his plea on Thursday. His public defender, Michael Schroettner, also declined to comment.
Both suspects have been released from jail while their cases proceed. Judge Geoffrey Howard ordered them not to be alone with a minor without another adult present and to stay at least 20 yards away from schools, playgrounds and other places where children gather.
Dombrowski and Magallon were among four suspects arrested on Feb. 13 on suspicion of trying to meet minors for sex. The meetings were set up by undercover detectives targeting potential molesters.
The other defendants, Nassor Ngabira, 24, of Santa Rosa, and Melvin Rodriguez-Delafuente, 27, of Richmond, pleaded not guilty previously.
