A 19-year-old man was fatally wounded Tuesday night on the Far South Side in the Morgan Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1000 block of West 115th Street and discovered the man with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified Wednesday morning by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Treyvon Winfield of Harvey.

A preliminary investigation revealed Winfield was in a car when he was approached by a man on foot who displayed a handgun and opened fire, police said. The gunman fled the scene.

No one was in custody for the slaying and detectives were investigating.
