With the warm weather here, it’s time to make the switch to toe-baring footwear. There are options aplenty. Soft ballet flats are back, for starters. As are wedges. Easygoing afternoons won’t be wasted either, thanks to all the sporty designs out there, and nights out are in your future, too, with glitzy numbers answering their siren call.

The Ines Slide ($258 on toryburch.com) is a particularly sassy little number that will take you from late May all the way through September. They sport a sleek silhouette with an intricate laser-cut Tory Burch logo that blends into the straps. Made in Italy, they’ve got a meticulously crafted Napa leather upper and rubber sole — and come in all kinds of irresistible color combos. My faves are the light chartreuse and dark cocoa; and the glammed-up full metal — a la the gold option. I also love it in the ultra-bright fuchsia pink, or the unusual but fetching pairing of silver upper with wild mushroom (brown) cushioned footbed.

And while ballet flats have come roaring back into style this summer, there’s no need to drop a small fortune on them. Not when there are deals to be scored like the Greta Ballet Flat ($98 on madewell.com). Their leather version has a perfectly squared-off toe, an elastic Mary Jane strap, and Cloudlift Lite padding for enormous comfort. The leather upper and lining are stretchy and extra comfy, too. The hues are just darling — from bandana red and light chestnut multi (a brown cheetah print) to pale blush with black strapping.

Wedges have made a comeback, as well. Not that they ever went away. Check out the Women’s Wedge Platform Espadrille Sandals with Buckle Strap and Cork Sole ($49.99 on amazon.com). With its lightweight cork base and easy slip-on style that gets secured with an adjustable buckle, they sport a pretty woven trim and come in feather-light colors like nude pink, apricot, and light khaki — a soft basket weave. But it’s their versatility that recommends them most — even with an almost four-inch platform rise, the non-slip sole provides real stability. So wear them with jeans or shorts and enjoy a jaunty walk around town, or with a feminine skirt that befits their height.

The Vadyn Platform Wedge Sandal ($119 on nordstrom.com), is a lofty platform that’s part earthy-boho, part classic. Grab a pair in either natural or black and wear it with almost anything, all summer long. Sometimes, you just need an easy pair of go-to shoes to grab on your way out the door.

For sporty weekend afternoons, that go-to has to be something far sportier. Birks, for example — but make it a pair that look nothing like the versions your mom used to wear decades ago. Case in point: Birkenstock’s Women Sydney Cushion Buckle ($130 on birkenstock.com) in Patent Faded Purple. With an oversized “Luxe Buckle” and a shimmering upper coating, the German-made design is new to the brand’s collection, and has a contoured footbed support and a flexible sole.

You’re going to need something on the (much) dressier side, as well. Something strappy. Something delicate and silver, that goes almost anywhere for evening, or to almost any snazzy daytime event. Something like Sam Edelman’s Women’s Joanna Sandals ($150 on samedelman.com), in soft silver faux leather. A pointed toe and embellished upper detailing are crowned with a delicate flower, and all of it shows off your new pedicure. Now that’s the way to put some real spring your step.
