With just one more week in the regular season, these rankings are officially our final list of the regular season.

But don’t fret, we’ll be back once all the dust settles.

For now, though, we’ve got steadiness in the top four of our current rankings — Lincoln, Fitzgerald, Center Line and Chippewa Valley hold still — while shakeups occur later down the list.

We’ve also got two teams jumping into the rankings with Cousino making their debut and Parkway Christian returning after dropping out. They’ve taken the spots previously occupied by Lake Shore and Armada.

1. Lincoln Abes (16-4, no change)

The Abes’ winning streak has reached 11 games, and the former unbeaten, No. 1 team in Michigan U of D Jesuit is one of the many victims.

Simply put, Lincoln is playing its best ball right now and few teams have even been able to get close to them on the floor. They’ll play one more regular season game (vs. Roseville) before the Abes potentially take on coach Wydell Henry’s former school, Pershing, in the district finals.

2. Fitzgerald Spartans (18-2, no change)

Days come and go. Fitzgerald just keeps on winning.

After a two-point loss to D2 favorite Flint Powers ended their nine-game winning streak, Fitz has since started a new six-game winning streak, which includes beating LCN, Saginaw Heritage, Port Huron Northern and Detroit Lincoln-King. They’re largely getting it done with their trademarked hellish defense, too, holding all but one team on their streak under 50 points.

The unfortunate news is that the Spartans’ district is even more of a nightmare than their own defense — they’ll go against 14-7 Detroit Renaissance, and if they can crack them, they earn a duel with U of D Jesuit.

But if the Spartans can overcome that, there might not be a ceiling on what they can do.

3. Center Line Panthers (16-5, no change)

Coach Derrick Walton’s team had won 10-straight games before falling victim to a good East Kentwood team on Saturday. But that does nothing to change the potential trajectory of this Panther team, which is likely as ready as it’ll ever be to make a potential postseason run.

They just recently wrapped up a perfect 9-0 MAC Silver run. They won’t play a 10th game — there was a weather-related cancellation with Marysville — since it wouldn’t change the rankings.

They’ll get ready to go through either Chandler Park or South Lake to earn a regional berth.

4. Chippewa Valley Big Reds (15-6, no change)

The Bid Reds have lost four of their last seven games, with one win and one loss being decided by overtime.

They deserve the same treatment other teams have gotten — their losses have been to good teams and they have beaten good teams, too. But with the team not seemingly playing their best ball right now, their last tuneup game against Country Day on Tuesday could show us a lot about what we could come to expect from the Big Reds come next week’s postseason.

5. Henry Ford II Falcons (14-5, up one)

The Falcons will have to go through Chippewa Valley to win their district championship, which they host. If they keep up the way they’ve been playing, they’ll have a chance.

Ford won their last four games (Romeo, Fraser, Troy and Cousino) and still have three regular season games against Cousino, Lutheran North and Troy Athens. Then, their first round district game is against Fraser. Those four games are all winnable, meaning the Falcons could be going into a potential district title game vs. Chippewa Valley on their second eight-game winning streak of the season.

That’s a dangerous prospect.

6. Dakota Cougars (13-9, up three)

While we might not yet be able to claim that Dakota, who had an abysmal January, is back, they’re certainly looking more like the Cougar team that won eight of their first nine games.

Dakota has won four of their last six with an average margin of victory of nearly 29 points.

The two losses were to the MAC Red leading Lincoln Abes and Port Huron Northern Huskies.

Unfortunately for them, PHN is one team they’ll have to overcome to win their district.

Neither of their losses to them were blowouts, and it’s hard to beat a good team three times.

To even get to that point, though, the Cougars will have to beat Anchor Bay.

7. L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders (14-8, down two)

The Crusaders went 3-3 since our last rankings, but that record is something of a mixed bag.

They split two matchups against Eisenhower and beat both River Rouge and Hazel Park.

But they also lost at Little Caesars Arena to Romeo and took a 28-point loss to Brother Rice, albeit one of the best teams in the state.

L’Anse Creuse North feels like a team that is hard to predict for the upcoming postseason.

8. Cousino Patriots (13-6, new to rankings)

Cousino had quietly won nine of 10 games leading up to their low-scoring defeat at Ford on Valentines Day. The only snag is that just one of those wins (South Lake) came against teams with over .500 records.

Still, there’s clearly plenty of talent on the Patriots’ roster. Nic Farr is one of the best scorers in the county, Brandon Cade has come along strong as a point guard and big man Noah Saunders is athletic and brings an energetic punch to Cousino’s lineup. If they end up in the district championship against De La Salle, they’re going to have a chance.

9. De La Salle Pilots (6-14, up one)

Despite going 1-2 since our last rankings, the Pilots earned an impressive win over Toledo Central Catholic in the CHSL tournament before losing a tough battle with U of D Jesuit. They also lost to Chippewa Valley in a county crossover, a game in which they led for much of the night but blew a lead.

There’s going to be nobody in the Pilots’ district that can match their big-game experience or Phoenix Glassnor’s skill level. They still have a chance to make something of the season despite the poor record.

10. Parkway Christian Eagles (15-6, new to rankings)

The Eagles are making their return to the rankings after winning three in a row after taking a head-scratching loss to Bloomfield Hills Roeper. They also took down 15-5 Whitmore Lake, but there’s an inverse — along with losing to 5-13 Roeper, they recently lost to Livonia Clarenceville (9-11) and Clintondale, who is 13-7, but seems like a beatable opponent for the Eagles.

They have just one more game — on the road in Brighton vs. Charyl Stockwell Prep — and if they win that, Parkway Christian will earn their first MIAC Red championship since 2021.
