Resident of Los Gatos
Carl Donald Gronlund passed away on January 4, 2025, in Los Gatos, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born in San Francisco on March 26, 1935, to Ethel and Daniel Gronlund. He attended and graduated from the University of California.
Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned his master’s in EE from San Jose State University. After college, he proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and in the reserves.
After his military service, Don's career spanned over 30 years as an electrical engineer, where he helped establish and grow numerous Silicon Valley equipment manufacturers, eventually rising to the level of vice president of engineering.
Don’s love for life was evident in his many interests and hobbies.
He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling to new places, visiting the beach, and tending to his garden alongside his loving wife Leah. Although he did have some humorous run-ins with gophers on occasion. Don’s infectious smile and whistling tunes brought joy to those around him.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Leah; their three children Keith (Sharon), Craig, and Jan (Steve); grandchildren Jennafer (Chris), Jonathon, Kirsten (John), and Jacob; and great-grandchild John.
His family will deeply miss him but take comfort in knowing that he will remain forever in their hearts.
Don’s final resting place will be at the Los Gatos Memorial Park, but he will remain in our hearts forever.
