The Woodland Christian baseball team continued crushing the opposition on Tuesday evening thanks to a 13-0 home win over Sierra Delta League foes San Juan.

The Cardinals (16-3, 9-0 SDL) remained perfect in the league thanks to a complete team effort as they cruised to their seventh league five-inning mercy rule win this year.

Following their emphatic 19-8 win over Rio Vista on March 25, the Cardinals enjoyed another 12-0 win over Rio in game two of the series before going 3-1 in a tournament that included a 15-4 nonleague win over Eldorado on April 1, a 19-0 win over Castle Park on April 2 and an 11-3 win over New Roads on 11-3.

The Cardinals would get to it early Tuesday, racing out to an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, senior Jeffrey Nannini would single with the bases loaded and score senior Jandro Torres to make it 9-0. Senior Kyle Misner then singled home junior Jayden Badhesha to make it 10-0 before Parker Howald scored Nannini with a single of his own to go up 11-0.

In the bottom of the third, the Cardinals added 2 more insurance runs to make it 13-0 before running the clock out on the final 2 innings to take the win.

Jayden Badhesha pitched a stress-free two innings on the mound, striking out 4. Ethan Howald pitched two innings of relief and struck out 5, while Kyle Misner came out for the final inning and struck out the side.At the plate, Nannini had 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBI. Badhesha, Misner, Howland and sophomore Billy Flowers all had 2 RBI a piece.

Jordan Villanueva had 2 hits, while Wyatt Trafican, Ethan Howald, Gary Mann, and Armaan Badhesha all had 1 hit. Senior Owen Tessier had a run and a walk in two plate appearances.

Up next for the Cardinals will be game two of their series against San Juan on Thursday at 4 p.m. at San Juan High School.

After that, they will enjoy some new competition in the Christian Brothers Tournament all of next week before resuming SDL play with a home game against Golden Sierra on Tuesday, April 22.
