Satellite imagery late Friday showed a deep storm system continuing to swirl across the Midwest, bringing sporadic snow showers to the metro area.
Heavier bursts of snow left up to a half inch of slush in some areas. The trace of snow recorded at Midway Airport means this season’s snow deficit has surpassed 10 inches.
Significant snow again fell to our west and north, with portions of Iowa and southeast Minnesota reporting 6 to 8 inches. High winds accompanied the snow, creating blizzard conditions across western Iowa. The slow-moving system is forecast to move across the Great Lakes over the weekend, keeping our weather unsettled.
Forecasts suggest two periods with a potential for light accumulating snow. The first passes Saturday morning; the second arrives Sunday afternoon.
