Santa Cruzan’s Keanna Miller, Riviera Hunter, and Esme Brigham were eliminated in the Round of 64 at the World Surf League’s Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro at Oceanside Pier on Saturday.

The local trio finished tied for 49th place in Women’s Qualifying Series 3,000-point event.

Miller produced a two-wave total score of 6.83 and placed fourth in Heat 13, which was won by Kiara Goold (12.16) of French Polynesia.

Hunter (8.33), a member of the 2024-25 USA Surfing U14 Junior National Team, took fourth in Heat 14, which was won by Zoey Kaina (14.87) of Hawaii.

And Brigham (9.73) took fourth in Heat 15, which was won by Vaihitimahana Inso (14.76) of Hawaii.

Former Capitola resident Maddie Storrer (8.67) took second behind Zoe Benedetto (13.60) of Palm City, Florida, in Heat 9 and both advanced.

Storrer, who relocated to Huntington Beach with her family, goes against Chelsea Tuach of Barbados, Reid Van Wagoner of Carlsbad, and Canada’s Sanoa Dempfle-Olin in Heat 6 of the Round of 32.

In the Round of 96 on Friday, Storrer took first in Heat 9 with a 13.00 total, Brigham took first in Heat 15 with a 9.10 total, and Hunter took second in Heat 13 with a 8.87 total.

Santa Cruz’s Kaikora Nauenberg (9.06) took third in Heat 3 and former Capitola resident Olivia Storrer (7.34), a member of the 2024-25 USA Surfing U16 Junior National Team, took third in Heat 15. Both surfers were eliminated and tied for 65th place overall.

Girls flag football

Aptos 33, Alvarez 0 >> Junior Ella Porter connected with senior Izzy Graff for a pair of touchdown passes in the Mariners’ nonleague win Friday.

Graff finished with three touchdowns. She hauled in scoring passes of 47 and 8 yards, and scored on a 60-yard run.

Sophomore Ellie Marta scored on a 19-yard run and sophomore June Zelmon scored on a 10-yard run.

On defensive, senior Mia Sanchez and freshman Jane Parry each made an interception. Freshman Julia Parello recorded a sack.

Aptos faces San Lorenzo Valley in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play at Harbor High on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Men’s soccer

UC Santa Cruz 1, at Redlands 1 >> Kotetsu Horike scored his second goal of the season in the 85th minute, and the unbeaten Banana Slugs earned a draw against the host Bulldogs in the their NCAA Division III match Friday.

Landon Azavedo scored for the Bulldogs (4-1-1) in the 22nd minute.

UCSC outshot Redlands 15-9. Goalie Chris Jamrock made three saves for the Banana Slugs. Brady Bachman and Jason Salmeron split time for the Bulldogs and made a combined four saves.

UCSC (4-0-3) hosts William Jessup (0-3-2) on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Women’s soccer

Folsom Lake 6, at Cabrillo 0 >> Maryn Rogers and Grace Pratt each scored twice in the No. 4 state-ranked Falcons’ rout of the host Seahawks on Friday.

Cabrillo (1-5-0) plays at Evergreen Valley (0-5-2) in San Jose on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Women’s volleyball

At MIT 3, UCSC 1 >> Kelly Ann Greene had nine kills, but the Banana Slugs lost 25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18 at the John A. Paulson Center in New York on Friday.

Ashley Magley and Heidi Collins each had eight kills for UCSC. Kate Lau had 13 digs, and Anna Hospodar made 11, and Margo Melgoza had 19 assists, and Alessandra Ponzo added 13.

UCSC (7-8) faces New York University and Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

San Jose City Tri >> Cabrillo earned a split at the San Jose City Tri on Friday. The Seahawks swept the host Jaguars 25-5, 25-21, 25-18 and lost to Shasta 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23.

Cabrillo (5-12) hosts Ohlone (10-2) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Girls golf

Aptos 145, at Soquel 179 >> Medalist Lemi Anastasopoulos shot 10-over-par 33 over six holes at DeLaveaga Golf Course, and the Mariners prevailed in their SCCAL match Thursday.

Emily Fassio (35), Lilly McGee (36), and Adeline Burgess (41) also scored for the Mariners (2-0)

Chelsea Myers (41), Joey Burgos (45), Leah Tuttman(46) and Haley Helgueros (47) scored for Soquel.

Aptos plays Scotts Valley at Seascape Golf Club on Tuesday.
