For the second time in two years, a Kardashian sister is facing a lawsuit in regard to improper treatment of their household staff.
Matthew Manhard, who began working for Khloe Kardashian in 2019, claims he was fired after taking a leave of absence due to a knee injury, according to the lawsuit obtained by ET.
Manhard alleges that he gave notice of his absence when his injury required surgery and hospitalization, but he was terminated when he tried to return to work six months later.
The allegations also include claims that Kardashian violated California labor laws by not allowing Manhard to take breaks while on the job, working him sometimes in 12-hour shifts and not paying him overtime.
Kardashian’s rep denied these statements, telling ET, “It’s unfortunate to learn that a former employee would choose to go this route. Matthew was properly classified and compensated for his role.”
“We will not tolerate false accusations and will prove that this is a frivolous lawsuit,” the rep added.
The allegations sound similar to the 2021 lawsuit that was brought against Khloe’s sister, Kim Kardashian, who was sued by seven former workers at her Hidden Hills home in California. They claimed the SKIMS founder did not pay them overtime or allow breaks for meals or rest.
“These workers were hired and paid through a third-party vendor,” her spokesperson said at the time.
