


Mia Espinoza’s triple was one Watsonville High’s three hits in a 10-0, five-inning loss to Everett Alvarez in Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan softball action Wednesday.
Amelia Martinez and Audrina Rodriguez had singles for the Wildcatz (11-7, 1-4), who are average 6.8 runs per game. They were shut out for just the second time this season.
Dani Amendola had three hits and two RBI for the Eagles (9-8, 2-3). Michelle Wallace had a hit, three RBI, and scored a run, and Kamyla Cruz had two hits and scored twice.
Dani Amendola earned the complete-game win, and Amelia Martinez took the loss.Watsonville plays at Hollister (9-6, 2-1) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Boys lacrosse
At Aptos 14, Saratoga 12 >> Senior Spike Sorensen had four goals and six assists in the Mariners’ win Wednesday.
Sorensen, who is committed to Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada, has 37 goals and 27 assists on the season.
Parker O’Hara scored four goals for the Mariners, and Alex Sandoval had two goals and three assists. Ryan Murphy, Josh Couchman, Gabriel Sandoval, and Izayah Castro also scored.
Goalie Cole Moules made 11 saves.
At Salinas 19, Soquel 3 >> Jed Del Favero, Zachery Beckerman-Stevens, and Wyatt Nichols each scored a goal for the Knights in their loss Wednesday.
Goalie Daniel Bjorn made 13 saves for the Knights (4-5), who host Stevenson on April 24 at 5 p.m.
Girls lacrosse
At Aptos 19, Soquel 8 >> Junior attacker Aryel Reyes Mager scored five goals, and the Mariners won their PCAL Cypress Division match Wednesday.
Seniors Avi Andrews and Mary Watson each scored four goals for the Mariners (9-1. 7-0). Maya Rosa scored three goals, Lauren Ashton scored twice, and Aiyana Reyes Mager added a goal.
Senior attacker Reilly Kerko scored five goals for the Knights. Sophomore attacker Ashby Weeks had two goals and an assist, and junior attacker Sophie Arnold also scored.
Senior goalie Gamble Kellermyer made nine saves for the Mariners, who play at Monterey on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Freshman goalie Gianna Williams made 17 saves for the Knights, who host Santa Catalina on April 24 at 7 p.m.
Boys tennis
At Scotts Valley 5, San Lorenzo Valley 1 >> The victorious Falcons swept all four singles matches and split the two doubles matches in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action Wednesday.
SLV defaulted at No. 4 singles and both teams defaulted at No. 3 doubles.
Elijah Diamond, Aditya Hannon and Lincoln Verinsky earned singles wins for the Falcons, and Garvasis Kuriakose and Steve Saji won at No. 2 doubles.
SLV’s Asher Schwarzbach and August Hughes won at No. 1 doubles.
The Falcons (3-6, 3-4) play at Santa Cruz on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Aptos 6, Harbor 1 >> Dylan Ward and Samuel Delgadillo won 6-3, 7-6 (10) at No. 1 doubles, and the Mariners won their SCCAL match Wednesday.
The short-handed Pirates defaulted five matches.
Harbor’s Abraham Bachar beat Dylan Bray 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
The Mariners improved to 5-1.
Girls swimming
At Aptos 127, SLV 45 >> Rose Lockwood, Natalie Allen, and Adelaide Friedley each won two individual events in the Mariners’ SCCAL win Wednesday.
Lockwood took first in the 50 free (27.53) and 100 free (1:00.64), Allen took first in the 100 fly (1:05.46) and 200 free (2:09.20), and Friedley took first in the 100 breast (1:07.75) and 200 IM (2:17.22).
Boys swimming
At Aptos 148, SLV 23 >> Elijah Souza and Thomas Westfall each won two individual events in the Mariners’ SCCAL win Wednesday.
Souza took first in the 50 free (22.39) and 100 free (50.26), and Westfall took first in the 200 free (1:56.58) and 500 free (5:17.90).
High school baseball
Rancho San Juan 4, at SLV 2 >> Larrabee Mitchell had a hit and one RBI in the Cougars’ nonleague loss Wednesday.
Jaden Shabry and Phil Nattrass each had a hit and run scored for the Cougars. Dominic Aguilar also drove in a run.
SLV (2-12, 0-6) hosts Soquel (15-1, 5-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.
Women’s beach volleyball
At West Valley 3, Cabrillo 2 >> Avalon Agnelli and Sophie Hall, and Becca Willemse and Dakotah Johnson earned three-set wins for the Seahawks, but it wasn’t enough to secure a team victory Wednesday.
Cabrillo (13-7, 9-5) competes in the Coast Conference Pairs Tournament at Main Beach in Santa Cruz on Wednesday.
