A Colorado men’s backcourt that was short on depth on both ends of the floor this past season suddenly looks as if it will have plenty of candidates to erase that shortcoming in 2025-26.
The latest piece to the mix along the wing arrived Tuesday, as the Buffaloes received a commitment from Denver transfer Jon Mani, a 6-foot-6 guard from Los Angeles.
Mani will join the competition along the perimeter that is set to include UC Riverside transfer Barrington Hargress; incoming freshmen Josiah Sanders, Isaiah Johnson, Ian Inman and Jalin Holland; and 2024-25 freshmen Felix Kossaras and Andrew Crawford, who redshirted.
Mani played in 30 games (six starts) as a true freshman for the Pioneers, averaging 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per appearance.
Mani ranked as one of the top 25 recruits for 2024 within California and was the highest-ranked recruit for DU in its Division I era (since 1999), but he struggled to get his shot on track with the Pioneers.
Mani shot just .330 overall with a .309 mark on 3-pointers (15-for-49). He also went 8-for-17 (.471) at the free-throw line and finished with 14 assists against 20 turnovers.
DU finished 11-21 and parted ways with coach Jeff Wulbrun following the season.
With the transfer portal additions of Hargress and now Mani, head coach Tad Boyle still has one open spot to fill, assuming CU sticks to its previously stated plan of carrying 13 scholarships even as the limit expands to 15.
