Richard Peter Metsiou passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 76 on June 3rd, 2025. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on December 22, 1948. Richard was a hero of the Vietnam War and a member of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the Screaming Eagles. In Vietnam, he survived the bloody ten-day battle at Hamburger Hill (Hill 937) for which he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Valor. His funeral will be held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, and he will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery with full honors by the United States Army.
