Age 86, of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, after a 24-year battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Born on March 26, 1939, in St. Paul to James F. and Selma L. Machovec (née Irene), Sandy grew up in the Summit Hill area and graduated from Saint Joseph’s Academy in 1957. She worked for the State of Minnesota and later the Northern Pacific Railway, before retiring from Courage St. Croix. In 1964, Sandy married Raymond Hite, Jr., and they had four children: Mary (Wayne) LeTourneau, Amy (Ger) Irwin, Adam (Jhoelle) Hite and Alexandra (Eric) Nelson. They raised their family in Grant Township (Stillwater) so their children could attend Mahtomedi schools. Sandy was a proud grandmother to Lauren, Samantha, Sandra (Maggie), Katie, Emily, Sallyanna, and AJ. She also enjoyed a cherished friendship with Doug in her later years, with family at the center of their days. Sandy passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, shortly after the passing of her sister, Karen (Krinke), in February.
She will be remembered as the heart of her family. The family is grateful for the care Sandy received from Boulder Ponds and Lakeview Homecare and Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Ambrose of Woodbury, 4125 Woodbury Drive, on April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
