A Mocanaqua man who admitted to stealing over $150,000 from the Polish Falcons Social Club was sentenced this week to house arrest and ordered to pay restitution.

Jimmy L. Zarr, 65, previously pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge in connection with the thefts from the club at 134 N. Main St., Conyngham Twp.

Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. sentenced Zarr on Monday to serve a month of house arrest with electronic monitoring followed by five years of probation.

State police launched an investigation in November 2022 after club officials commissioned an audit that showed more than $170,000 missing.

As bar manager, Zarr was in charge of the club’s cash, including managing the cash registers and safe and making deposits to the bank, prosecutors said.

Zarr “announced his retirement” when club officials conducted their audit in October 2022, according to prosecutors.

As part of his sentence, Zarr was ordered to pay $161,960 in restitution.
