The Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit announced the election of new officers to its board of directors including Que Morgan of Shelby Township.
“We are thrilled to have such a diverse and talented group of individuals joining our board,” said Diane Charles, president and CEO of the nonprofit organization that provides essential furniture and accessories to needy families living in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, in a news release. “Their collective expertise and passion will be invaluable as we continue to serve families across Metro Detroit.”
Morgan is a member of the marketing team at General Motors and the board will benefit from his experience in strategy, development, project and event management, according to information in a release.
The Furniture Bank also announced that its longtime board member and Detroit entrepreneur David Zick, whose has extensive experience and a deep commitment to the nonprofit’s mission, has been elected as board chair.
Joining him in leadership roles for the Furniture Bank are:
• Vice President Alex Schwallbach, founder of AGS IT Services, who has extensive expertise in information technology and business development and serves on the board of HAVEN, based in Pontiac.
• Treasurer Jason Miller of Grand Swaka, who has a strong background in commercial real estate and financial management.
• Secretary Chris Richards, an attorney at Taft Law firm will provide legal insight and governance experience.
In addition to Morgan the Furniture Bank has added three other new board members including:
• Beth Beal, founder of B2B Solutions, who has experience in financial real estate and community engagement.
• Todd Ralph, executive at The Phoenix Group, who has experience in marketing and advertising.
• Jennifer LaWatsch, a group human resource executive at Enterprise Mobility, who can oversee HR operations and employee support across the state.
“The board of directors play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the Furniture Bank, ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission of providing furniture to families in need, transforming empty houses into homes,” added Charles.
