Who’s going to win the World Series, the Dodgers or the Yankees? That’s our Question of the Week for readers.

But there are many more questions about this moment in Southern California sports.

Are the Los Angeles Dodgers a galvanizing force in the Southland? Or are we too huge of a region for the fandom to spread from far and wide to a team that represents L.A.?

Especially if you and yours are mostly Angels fans, is this a bittersweet moment? The Dodgers got where they are this season — returning to the World Series for the first time in four years — partially because of the genius of the diamond, Shohei Ohtani, considered one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

But in his years with the Anaheim club, even when he was pitching as well as belting homers, his team never made it to the postseason, much less the Series. If you’re an Angels fan, does your affection for him as a player and person transfer now to the Boys in Blue? Or is that heresy?

Other Southern California men’s sports teams are not playing to peak potential. The Rams are 2-4 in the NFL, the Chargers 3-2; last season’s Lakers and Clippers seasons were mediocre.

Does that mean the Dodgers, with their star power and zillion-dollar payroll, have all of us rooting for them? The first three hitters in their lineup — Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman — have all been Most Valuable Players, and are some of the most exciting players in MLB. Or are you among those sports fans made cynical about the skyrocketing salaries in professional sports?

Is the big-time interest in the Dodgers in Asia because of Ohtani and other Japanese superstars a good thing for the game? In recent years MLB rosters are increasingly filled with players from the Caribbean and Latin America as young American athletes seem increasingly drawn to football and basketball. Can baseball compete with their excitement? Have the rule changes that sped up the game this season been good for baseball? Will it be Ohtani or Yankee’s homer-hitter Aaron Judge who’ll make the difference in this Series?
