The Broncos swapped one tight end for another.

On Tuesday, Denver signed Caden Prieskorn and waived Cole Fotheringham with an injury designation.

Prieskorn, 25, is a rookie who went undrafted this spring. He started his college career at Memphis and then played the past two seasons at Ole Miss.

His most productive season in the receiving game came in 2022 for the Tigers when he caught 48 passes for 602 yards and seven touchdowns. In two years playing for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels, Prieskorn combined for 57 catches, 850 yards and seven touchdowns.

Prieskorn is listed at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds. After the draft, he signed as an undrafted free agent with Detroit, but the Lions waived him after the team’s rookie minicamp.

He essentially replaces Fotheringham on Denver’s roster. Fotheringham, 27, went undrafted in 2022 but spent two years with Las Vegas and also time last offseason with Houston.

Fotheringham was signed to the Broncos’ roster after trying out as a veteran player during the team’s rookie minicamp in mid-May. He was not in attendance Thursday, however, when reporters were allowed to watch Denver’s OTA practice last week.

The nature of his injury was not immediately clear.

Prieskorn joins a tight end room that also includes Evan Engram, Adam Trautman, Nate Adkins, Lucas Krull and seventh-round rookie Caleb Lohner.

Manning joins Denver NWSL ownership group

The Sheriff is ponying up for Colorado women’s soccer.

Peyton Manning has joined the Denver NWSL team’s ownership group, the club announced on Tuesday morning. He’s the second high-profile athlete to be added to the ownership group in the last month, joining skiing great Mikaela Shiffrin.

Manning, the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback who led the Broncos to a Super Bowl 50 victory, said in a statement that “it’s a real honor to be part of something so meaningful to the Colorado community,”

“I’m proud to support the growth of women’s sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind,” Manning said.

Manning played 17 years in the NFL and was a 14-time Pro Bowler. He appeared in two Super Bowls with both the Colts and Broncos, winning one with each franchise.

A five-time NFL MVP, Manning lives in Colorado and has been a high-profile fan of the state’s teams.

In 2020, Manning founded a sports media company, Omaha Productions, which created ESPN’s Emmy-winning “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” as well as other shows and docuseries.

Manning is also an ambassador for the Colts and Broncos.

Denver NWSL is ramping up to its inaugural season in 2026. The yet-to-be-named franchise will play its first two seasons at a temporary stadium in Centennial, with plans to build a permanent 14,500-seat stadium and entertainment complex at Santa Fe Yards in Denver.

In the last few months, the team’s started to create the framework for the front office. In April, the club hired Jen Millet as president and the team’s first employee, and last week tabbed longtime soccer executive Curt Johnson as its first general manager.
