Police unveil ‘The Blotter’ to inform community
Erie Police Department recently unveiled “The Blotter” (www.erieco.gov/2427/Blotter), a new tool designed to provide the community with near real-time insights into police activities.
According to Erie Police Department’s post on X, the digital platform, which refreshes every 24 hours from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, allows residents to monitor and view reported cases across Erie.
The Blotter highlights requests for police service “but intentionally excludes non-dispatched activities, such as self-initiated patrols and educational efforts,” according to the post.
Officials said to protect residents’ privacy, locations of incidents are strategically skewed and rotate with each data refresh.
Erie officers encouraged community members to explore the new tool and to provide feedback.
For questions or concerns, police said to email policeoutreach@erieco.gov.
