The 49-year-old Kotsay is in his fourth season with the Athletics and has led the team through a period of upheaval that’s included a move from Oakland to Sacramento, Calif., where they will play at a minor league stadium for the next few seasons. The eventual plan is to end up in Las Vegas.

Angels star Mike Trout moving from center to right field >>Los Angeles Angels oft-injured star Mike Trout is moving from center to right field in hopes of better preserving his health.

Trout approached the club about the position switch.

“I kind of threw everything on the table as in what’s best for me bodywise to keep me on the field,” he said Monday. “I came to the conclusion that I’m going to go to right field. I’ll try it out and see where it goes.”
