Wooden planks fall from semi on I-25 Wednesday morning causing crash

Northbound lanes of I-25 were closed Wednesday morning after a semi-truck lost its load of wooden planks, causing a crash.

According to a release by Colorado State Patrol, at approximately 5:20 a.m. the agency responded to the property damage crash north of Colo. 52 on I-25. The debris from the crash caused law enforcement to shut down northbound lanes of I-25 north of Colo. 52 for debris cleanup. The road reopened at 6:48 a.m., according to the release.

An officer who witnessed the crash estimated that between 20 and 30 drivers struck the debris and CSP is requesting that any victims who have not yet contacted law enforcement call CSP dispatch at 970-239-2501 and reference case no. 3A250099.

Parks and Open Space to host heritage day Jan. 26

Boulder County Parks and Open Space workers will host an annual winter heritage day from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at the at the Walker Ranch Homestead, 7701 Flagstaff Road.

The immersive historical event is designed to transport participants to the late 1800s. Costumed volunteers will demonstrate the daily tasks and traditions of the era during guided tours. Additional activities include blacksmith demonstrations, log house cooking, crafts, historical games and one-room schoolhouse demonstrations.

TinkerMill Repair Café will be held monthly

Longmont makerspace TinkerMill is turning its Repair Café, in which TinkerMill members fix people’s broken items, into a monthly event starting this weekend.

From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the free Repair Café will showcase members fixing a range of items, including clothing, electronics, small appliances and toys. Anyone can bring in a broken object for free. Every attempt will be made to repair the item, though there is no guarantee it will be fixed.

TinkerMill will generally hold Repair Café events on the third Saturday of the month. They will all be held from 9:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the makerspace, 1840 Delaware Place, Unit A.
