Resident of Antioch
Robert “Bob” Dean Keim passed away on December 3, 2024, in Roseville, California, at the age of 91. He was born on December 28, 1932, in Abilene, Kansas, to Earl and Pearl (Leavell) Keim.
After high school, he joined the US Air Force during the Korean war and was stationed overseas for over a year. His last assignment was at Hamilton Airforce Base, California, where he received the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was very proud of his service to his country.
While he was inthe service, he married his first wife, Carol Tomlinson, that union lasted three years. In February of 1963, he married the love of his life, Wilma “Tudy” Dooner. They were married for 55 years until her death in 2018.
Family and friends were very important to him. In his younger days he enjoyed camping, tinkering in the garage and working in the yard. He loved telling stories of days gone by and was very interested in his family history. Many things interested him including old cars, reading about history, watching true crime stories, and listening to country western music, he even played the harmonica.
He was a very devout Catholic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very hardworking; he graduated from college while working for Shell Oil Refinery in Martinez where he retired after 28 dedicated years.
Bob is survived by his loving family; his children: Donna (Kerry) Grimes of Antioch, Laureen Pearce, of Bluffdale, Utah and Glen (Melinda) Keim of El Dorado Hills; his grandchildren: Shane (Crystal) Grimes, Ryann (Samantha) Grimes, Corey Grimes, Shannon (Brian) Worth, John (Corrine) Hrynyk Jr., Courtney Hrynyk, Michelle (Steve) Hallmark, Kristi Cooley (Brad) Hanselman, Jeremy (Ashley) Smith, Kelly Keim, and Kayleigh Keim; also, his great grandchildren: Isabella, Lucas, Dylan, Archer, Elias, Kenalee, Kadence, Kylee, Colton, Taylor, Kendall, Ryleigh, Beckett, Eisley, Lincoln, Easton, and Miles; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Wilma Keim, stepson Dan McCarty, daughter Lisa Hrynyk; his sisters Mildred Keim, Pauline Sawyer and Bonnie Dennis, and first wife Carol Tomlinson Tavarez.
Service dates are: Monday, January 13: Visitation from 5-7 p.m. and Vigil at 7 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 14: Visitation from 9-11 a.m., Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Committal and Reception to follow. All visitation and services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery and Funeral Center, 2200 E. 18th Street, Antioch, CA, 94509.
