The Ducks dealt stay-at-home defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a three-team trade involving the Carolina. Hurricanes on Thursday night.

The Ducks received Toronto’s third-round pick in 2025, while Carolina gets Toronto’s sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft. The Ducks will pay 50% of Lyubushkin’s remaining salary this season, while the Hurricanes will pay an additional percentage.

Toronto also got the reserve rights to KHL forward Kirill Slepets from Carolina in the deal.

Lyubushkin has no goals and four assists with a minus-13 rating in 55 games this season for the Ducks, who acquired him from Buffalo last August for a fourth-round draft pick.

Lyubushkin will provide depth on the blue line for the Maple Leafs. The right-handed shooter likely will fill in for the injured Mark Giordano in the near future while Toronto continues its playoff push.

The Coyotes entered 0-10-2 over their 12 previous visits to Scotiabank Arena/Air Canada Centre, with Arizona’s last regulation loss in Toronto dating to Oct. 17, 2002 — the day Knies was born in Phoenix.

Islanders 5, Red Wings 3 >> Mathew Barzal had a tiebreaking goal with 6:02 left in the third period and Brock Nelson scored twice, as New York ended Detroit’s six-game winning streak. Pierre Engvall sealed the victory with an empty-net goal — the Islanders’ first of the season — in the final minute.
