Jay Monahan is leaving the PGA Tour next year after a decade that ends with a league fractured by the Saudi riches of LIV Golf, turning it over to top NFL executive Brian Rolapp in a new role as CEO.
Rolapp, the chief media and business officer for the NFL and a key executive for Commissioner Roger Goodell, was introduced Tuesday as CEO, a position that had never existed in the tour’s six decades of existence.
“Players are central to everything we do, and making sure they are supported and heard will be a top priority,” Rolapp said in an open letter. “At the same time, we are going to keep challenging ourselves to grow the game in new ways, reach new fans, and create a tour that reflects the future of sports and entertainment.”
Monahan announced last December the search for a CEO. Still unclear was Monahan’s role until the announcement of Rolapp.

Pelicans trade for Pacers 2025 draft pick >> The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade their 23rd overall choice in next week’s NBA draft to New Orleans for a 2026 first-round pick.
The deal gives the Pelicans two first-round picks — the seventh and 23rd overall — in the draft, raising the prospect that New Orleans could package both in a deal to move up in the first round next Wednesday.
The Pelicans also will receive the rights to Mojave King, a 2023 second-round draft choice who has played for Indiana’s G League affiliate as well as overseas in Puerto Rico and New Zealand.
The Pacers are getting back a 2026 pick they had traded to the Toronto Raptors in a 2024 deal sending Pascal Siakam to Indiana.

College World Series>> Jared Jones hit a go-ahead three-run homer before rain suspended play Monday night, freshman reliever Casan Evans pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings after play resumed, and LSU advanced to its College World Series bracket final with a 9-5 victory over UCLA.
The Tigers (50-15) next play Wednesday night against the winner of Tuesday night’s elimination game between Arkansas and the Bruins (48-17). LSU, going for its second national championship in three years, needs one more win to reach the best-of-three finals starting Saturday.
• Eddie King Jr. drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave Louisville a 7-6 victory over Oregon State and knocked the Beavers out of the College World Series.
The Cardinals (42-23) avenged a 4-3 walk-off loss to Oregon State last Friday and advanced to the Bracket 2 final. They must beat Coastal Carolina on Wednesday and again Thursday to reach the best-of-three CWS finals.
Just like Oregon State (48-16-1) on Friday, Louisville squandered a late lead only to come back and win.

Club World Cup >> Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense played to a 0-0 draw in the Club World Cup in rainy conditions before a crowd of just less than half capacity at MetLife Stadium that heavily favored the Brazilian club.
Fluminense’s best scoring chance came in the 58th minute on a left-footed shot by Agustín Canobbio from the center of the box that was saved by Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
• Sebastian Driussi scored for River Plate but was injured in the process, Marcos Acuña recorded two assists and the Argentine club beat the Urawa Red Diamonds 3-1 in the Club World Cup at Lumen Field.
Driussi’s goal three minutes into the second half made it 2-0, but he collided with goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa and fell to the ground in pain, grabbing his ankle. He limped off the field with assistance and was replaced by Miguel Borja.

US Open mixed double entries announced >> Imagine Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu competing together for a Grand Slam trophy. How about Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe as a duo? Iga Swiatek alongside Casper Ruud? Or Naomi Osaka with Nick Kyrgios?
Those are among the high-wattage pairs preliminary entry list for the reimagined U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament on Aug. 19-20, before singles competition begins Aug. 24.
Ten of the top 11 women in the WTA singles rankings — Coco Gauff, who just won the French Open for her second Grand Slam title, is the only one missing — and 10 of the top 11 men on the ATP tour, including No. 1 Jannik Sinner and 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic, have registered to compete for the $1 million top prize that will be split by the winners, an $800,000 increase over last year.
Raducanu’s stalker prevented from buying Wimbledon tickets >> The man accused of stalking tennis player Emma Raducanu tried to obtain tickets to Wimbledon but was blocked by the All England Club’s security system, British media reported.
The BBC and others reported that the man tried to apply for tickets through the public ballot for the Grand Slam tournament that starts June 30. His name had been red-flagged.
At the Dubai Championships in February, the man exhibited “ fixated behavior “ toward the 22-year-old Raducanu, who became distressed during a match when she noticed him in the crowd.
