Tamin Lipsey scored 16 before leaving late with an apparent groin injury and Milan Momcilovic had 13 for the No. 5 seed Cyclones (24-8), who will play fourth-seeded BYU in the quarterfinals in a rematch of last week’s double-overtime thriller.

UNLV knocks off Air Force 68-59 in Mountain West Conference Tournament

LAS VEGAS >> Jalen Hill had 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in UNLV’s 68-59 victory against Air Force on Wednesday in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

No. 6 seed UNLV (18-14) will play No. 3 seed Utah State on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

The Falcons (4-28) were led by Ethan Taylor, who posted 23 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Wyoming falls to San Jose State in Mountain West Tournament opener

LAS VEGAS >> Donavan Yap had 19 points in San Jose State’s 66-61 victory over Wyoming on Wednesday to begin the Mountain West Conference Tournament. No. 8 seed San Jose State advances to play top-seeded New Mexico in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Jordan Nesbitt led the Cowboys (12-20) in scoring, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Woman who accused Chiefs’ Worthy of attack granted protective order

KANSAS CITY, Mo. >> The woman who accused Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy of attacking her last week, resulting in a case in which the district attorney has so far declined to pursue charges, has been granted a protective order against him by a Texas judge.

Worthy was arrested last Friday and held in a county jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member in which their breath was impeded, or choking in common terms.

Shelton youngest American man since 2004 to reach Indian Wells quarters

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. >> Ben Shelton became the youngest American man since Andy Roddick in 2004 to reach the quarterfinals at the BNP Paribas Open, beating Brandon Nakashima in straight sets Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Shelton cruised in the second set of a 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory.

On the women’s side, No. 3 seed Coco Gauff was upset in the round of 16 by unseeded Belinda Bencic. The 28-year-old wild card from Switzerland rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Cheating scandal topples Olympic champions, shakes Norway’s reputation

GENEVA>> Two Norwegian ski jumpers are now suspended and under formal suspicion in a cheating scandal, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) said Wednesday in widening its investigation of altered ski suits.

Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, who are both Olympic gold medalists, can no longer compete in a World Cup event in Oslo that starts Thursday.

Lindvik and Forfang have denied involvement in cheating at the world championships held last week at Trondheim that their head coach and equipment manager already confessed to.
