Instead of wasting close to $100 million on a ridiculous campaign rally masquerading as a Fourth of July parade, I would much rather have my tax dollars spent on helping our veterans deal with their medical and mental health needs. I am guessing that it was this kind of unnecessary spending that forced Trump’s businesses to file bankruptcy.

We should all be happy this Independence Day that we do not have a king or queen to support. Oh, wait, how did that happen?

Families are fleeing desperate conditions to find refuge here, only to have the Americans slam the door in their faces. We need a more sensible and compassionate immigration system that does not criminalize these desperate people.

Our soldiers, tanks and fighter planes are dedicated to the protections of America’s people, values, freedoms, territory and allies. Ironic that Trump, a draft dodger who proved to be too cowardly to defend our nation’s freedom in the presence of Putin, would use our courageous troops as a show, to try to make you look better than you really are.

Trump is diverting millions of dollars from the National Park Service to help pay for his ego trip parade on the Fourth of July. This is a misappropriation of funds and he should be forced to personally repay every single cent.

I cannot believe the great United States of America has an actual president, who just like the worst dictators in the world, is going to a hold military parade to showcase strength, as a way to cover up his inner weakness. And we all know how weak he is.

A judge in New Jersey has been rebuked for showing bias toward a 16-year-old boy who raped a 16-year-old girl. The judge ruled that he deserved leniency because he was an Eagle Scout and came from a good family and had good grades, and pressing charges would ruin his life. This case is being moved to a grand jury, where he is being charged as an adult. Way too many judges give the wealthy and privileged a break. Remove these judges.

I got an idea after seeing the anti-abortion protesters in Valpo. Let’s make it mandatory that every 12-year-old male gets a vasectomy. Then if they marry and want children they can get it reversed. The abortion problem will then be solved. Since men want a voice in a woman’s rights, I think that they should step forward immediately.

You want to talk about the United States government not being a family business. How about the Roosevelts and the Kennedys, for starters?

Trump is incompetent and a disgrace to the presidency. His supporters show no signs of acknowledging this. Even after facts of his lies and behavior. What is worse is that educated Republic senators refuse to stop it. They are neither patriots or decent men. They are a stain on our democracy that needs to be removed.

Colin Kaepernick pointed out to Nike that the “Betsy Ross” American flag has been co-opted by white supremacists and they pulled some shoes out of the market. It seems to me that conservatives should be saying something to the white supremacists instead of whining about Kaepernick. Since having Neo-Nazis potentially marching around in their products would be bad PR, Nike likely made a wise business move.

I agree: Police officers should look like police, not soldiers.
