A Pomona police officer shot a suspect who was hospitalized on Friday evening, authorities said. A replica firearm was then recovered at the scene.

Officers were called to the 500 block of East Holt Avenue and Paloma Drive at 6:10 p.m. on Friday, where the shooting occurred.

The suspect was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital in an unknown condition. Police said a replica firearm was recovered after the suspect was shot.

It was unclear what prompted the shooting. No officers were injured, the police department said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office will investigate the shooting.
