DENVER >> Colorado bankruptcy filings increased 8% in April, down from increases of 14% in March and 20% in January and February. The state recorded 846 bankruptcy filings during April, compared with 785 for the same period a year ago. Individual filings totaled 829, up from 774 in April 2024. Business filings totaled 17, up from 11 the prior year.

That’s according to a BizWest analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data. Numbers cited include all new filings, including open, closed and dismissed cases.

In the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado, filings decreased in Larimer County, with Boulder, Broomfield and Weld counties recording increases.

• Boulder County recorded 36 bankruptcy filings in April, up 38% from 26 the prior year. Boulder County recorded 26 bankruptcy filings in March 2025. Year-to-date filings total 101, up 20% from 84 for the same period last year.

• The City and County of Broomfield recorded 12 bankruptcy filings in April, up from 10 the prior year. Broomfield recorded six bankruptcy filings in March 2025. Year-to-date filings total 38, up 36% from 28 for the same period last year.

• Larimer County filings totaled 41 in April, down 23% from 53 the prior year. Larimer recorded 37 bankruptcy filings in March 2025. Year-to-date filings total 151, up 14% from 132 for the same period last year.

• Weld County bankruptcy filings totaled 69 in April, up 5% from 66 a year ago. Weld recorded 56 bankruptcy filings in March 2025. Year-to-date filings total 220, up 20% from 183 for the same period last year.

April filings included:

• ECS Brands Ltd. of Broomfield, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, April 11, listing assets of $2,459,715 and liabilities of $3,748,857. Case No. 25-12101-TBM, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Denver.

• Lifestyle Asset Group LLC of Fort Collins, which filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation, April 18, listing assets of $1,000 and liabilities of $3,658,211. Case No. 25-12252-CDP, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Denver.

• Off-Road Automotive of Fort Lupton, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, April 21, listing assets of $5,603,034 and liabilities of $12,012,562. Case No. 25-12310-KHT, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Denver.
