


Franciscan Health offers diabetes classes
Franciscan Health has three-day diabetes education classes available from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5454 Hohman Ave., Hammond; and from 9 to 11 a.m. July 16, 17 and 18 at 24 Joliet St., Dyer. The classes are a covered benefit for most individuals with diabetes and are covered by Medicare and most commercial insurance plans. Participants receive a meal plan individualized to their needs. Festival celebrates Greek culture, Orthodox faith
Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Cathedral will present its 50th annual Greek Fest featuring food, music and entertainment from 5 to 11 p.m. July 12, noon to 11 p.m. July 13 and noon to 10 p.m. July 14 at the church, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville. The band High Noon will perform from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, The Minitones Band will take the stage from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday and the Greek music of Ormi will be featured from 5 to10 p.m. Sunday. St. Catherine Hospital scheduled programs and classes
A Keeping Baby Safe and Healthy class will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the hospital’s cafeteria conference room, 4321 Fir St., East Chicago. A diabetes education class runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon every Thursday at the Center for Diabetes, 4321 Fir St. A class in Spanish is offered on the second Thursday of each month. Lake County libraries to host programs
The Dyer-Schererville branch, 1001 W. Lincoln Highway, will offer three sections of Digitarium for ages 6 and older Thursdays from 1 to 1:45 p.m., 2:15-3 p.m. and 6-6:45 p.m. Children can explore the planets in the inflatable dome planetarium.
