Woman suspected of menacing is released on bond
A woman suspected of threatening a group of school children with a knife Monday has been released from jail on bond.
Alyssa Fate Barger, 31, of Arizona, may face one count of felony menacing, according to a press release. She was released from jail on a personal recognizance bond after seeing a judge, according to a Boulder Police Department’s post on X.
Barger was holding a knife when she reportedly began following a teacher and children in the 1700 block of Broadway around 11 a.m. Monday, according to a news release.
The woman got within 10 feet of the group and threatened to kill them, waving the knife around but not injuring anyone, according to witnesses, the release said. Officers found Barger near 17th Street and Arapahoe Avenue, according to the release.
“Our office opposed (Barger’s) release and fought for a secured bond in this case. The conduct alleged is incredibly scary and dangerous,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty told the Daily Camera.

Police department launches e-bike patrol program
The Lafayette Police Department is helping the city toward its climate goals while enhancing community policing through an e-bike patrol program, according to a news release.
In partnership with the Lafayette Sustainability Department, the initiative provides the police department with four electric bicycles to improve mobility, reduce vehicle emissions and allow access to areas where patrol vehicles cannot reach, according to the release. The program is funded through Boulder County’s Sustainability Tax Grant.
E-bikes allow officers to be more mobile and visible, which the news release said can help officers be more approachable.
