Man is arrested after roommate killed in shooting

A man is in jail after Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies allege he shot and killed his roommate during an argument Saturday.

Deputies responded to a house the 4700 block of Parmalee Gulch Road at 3:40 p.m. Saturday after they received a 911 call from a man, identified Sunday on X as Bobby Knapp, 51, who said he was involved in a shooting, according to a Saturday night statement from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies took Knapp into custody and found a dead man with gunshot wounds inside the house, according to the Saturday night statement.

The sheriff’s office originally called the incident a “suspicious death,” but said Sunday it is investigating the death as a homicide.

Knapp was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and will be in court Monday morning at 10 a.m.

In a Sunday post on X, the sheriff’s office said Knapp and the man killed were roommates and had gotten into an argument before the shooting.

Northbound Parmalee Gulch Road was closed near Parmalee Gulch Park on Saturday evening for the investigation, according to the statement.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Pedestrian is killed in hit-and-run Friday night

A hit-and-run in Lakewood on Friday night left one pedestrian dead and police are searching for the car involved.

Lakewood police officers responded to multiple reports of a car hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of Kipling Street and West 23rd Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from the department.

The pedestrian died and the driver fled the scene.

Officers are searching for the car involved — a black 2014 Chevy Camero with heavy front-end damage, a broken windshield and a missing headlight, according to a medina alert.

Man is found dead in cemetery, police investigating as homicide

Denver police are investigating a potential homicide after a man’s body was discovered in a Denver cemetery Saturday.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation is underway in the 400 block of South Quebec Street, the Denver Police Department stated on social media at 6:16 p.m. Saturday.

It’s unclear where the man’s body was found inside the cemetery, but his death is being investigated as a homicide.
