Jane Theresa Power, formerly of Brighton, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born in Worcester on January 30, 1936, and grew up in Southbridge, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur F. and Irene (Richard) Darley.
Before marriage, Jane danced with the USO throughout Europe for our Military troops. Upon her return she started The Jane Darley School of Dance in Southbridge MA. She continued her teaching after her marriage in Brighton MA, sharing her deep love for movement and music with her community. An artist in every sense of the word, she found joy in painting, playing the piano, and singing—bringing creativity and warmth to every space she touched. Jane was a self -taught artist who worked diligently crafting her skills in many medians. She was honored by the Federal Duck Stamp contest for one of submission of a Mallard Duck oil painting.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Power and a devoted mother to Bridget B. Power of Ogunquit, ME; Edward A. Power and his wife Donna of Woburn; Stephen C. Power of Brighton, MA; and Christine S. Wallace of Whitman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Christopher Power, Connor Power, Matthew Power, Cathryn Power, Krista (Wallace) Endres, Austin Wallace, Grace Wallace, all of whom she adored deeply.
Jane was the cherished twin sister of Joan A. Esile of Newburyport and was predeceased by her brother, Arthur F. Darley. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave., Brighton, on Friday, June 27th, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market St., Brighton. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend.
